Six different routes, of which three around Maridiana farm and three that can be reached in maximum 20 minutes drive, allow a complete tour of the Valle del Niccone and of its unique characteristiques: from the grass-land, pastures, and olive-groves of the Via delle Lane, to the medieval ruins and the panoramic views of the path of Monte Bastiola. A territory of a quite old history, full of protostoric, etruscans and romans evidences. A frontier place between Bizantines and Longobards, the valley and its hills are full of mills, castles and churches: the itinerary Around The Niccone offers splendid views on this spectacular territory. More faraway, the routes of Monte Acuto and Monte Murlo are direct witnesses of the deep past, marked by fortresses, sanctuaries on top of panoramic peaks and monumental Etruscans tumbs, hidden in the forest. Finally, the way of San Donnino, which runs around the boundary with Tuscany, tells the stories of the farmers lifes and popolar devotion, which have their deep roots in the identity itself of this antique and unchanged corner of Umbria.
